Connectors at the Portland meeting

Last night at the BrewStop pub in Portland, Oregon, 22 Connectors met for the first time to start up the Idealist Network in Portland.  As far as we know, it’s the first in-person meeting of a team since we launched last week. If we’re wrong about that, let us know!

Idealist has an office in Portland and some of our staff attended. Here’s our report:

Who are the Portland Connectors? They’re from all over the city, range in age from their 20s to 50s, and have varied experiences and backgrounds: they’re teachers, small business owners, scientists, and nonprofit professionals. Curiosity and commitment to the shared values and goals of the Network brought them together.

And what happened? Connectors introduced themselves, discussed things they weren’t sure about such as: “Can I list my community puppet project on the Team page?” (the team decided “no” because it wasn’t in the spirit of the Team), and ran through a proposed Team meeting agenda that we wanted to test out. We got some great feedback and are planning to share the agenda with everyone soon.

Intrigued? To set up a meeting with your Team, use the Events feature on the upper left side of your Team page.

If you’re not yet a Connector, but like to help people move from intention to action, you can visit the Connector hub to learn more and join the Team in your area.

    Hi Lea!

We’re working on an agenda template to share far and wide; until then, you may find it helpful to reference this doc: If you search for the word “agenda,” you’ll be taken to a section called “Meeting in person…” that gives some general agenda ideas.

Thank you, good luck, and please stay tuned!

Updates on the progress of Kitgum-Uganda Connectors on Sunday 6th, April, 2014 we met with a total of 15 liked-minded friends, pooling ideas, making decision together. in the meeting we agreed to begin a Society Credit Association with a monthly contribution of 8$. it was marvelous experience to witness community member discuss, share the risk, rising to the challenge and to enjoy the rewards. because the biggest challenges we have in Northern Uganda is the mindset couple with the over two decades of war in the region the community are most vulnerable especially the minds which subjected community to extreme poverty, limited education, poor health care system, population growth due to being redundant.

Next meeting on Sunday 13.April, 2014 at 10:00AM

Am doing the best to get photo of our meeting, i know i will get a solution so that other connector can witness people from the remote areas how they doing the best to change the situation on the ground.

    Keep you posted.
